Proven Solutions – Case Studies

1. High Speed Internet Access – Calabogie Peaks Resort, Calabogie, ON

With 40 corporate users on a Gigabyte over Ethernet and fibre optic network, high speed came to a sudden stop when it came to connecting to the Internet at Calabogie Peaks. Traditional connectivity options were unavailable with Calabogie Peaks located over 10 kilometers away from the closest High Speed Internet Access point. Our solution was to implement a wireless point to point connection between the resort and the closest DSL point of presence. The result – High Speed Internet delivered to both corporate staff and hotel guests along with VPN access from their Ottawa office.

2. Branch Office Connectivity – Fraser’s Clothes Shoppe, Bancroft. ON

Fraser’s Clothes Shoppe is headquartered in Renfrew, ON and has Branch Stores located in Bancroft, Pembroke and Chalk River. A SQL database application was implemented in the Renfrew location to provide inventory control and Retail Terminal operation. Branch stores would benefit through centralized inventory control and live transaction status. Our solution was to implement a Secure Virtual Private Network over high speed Internet between store locations, including full firewall protection. The result – up to the minute retail transactions and operational cost savings through improved inventory control.

3. Simplified Network Management – Shoun Lumber, Butler, Tennessee

With a peer-to-peer network, multiple shared printers and applications requiring multi-user access, Shoun Lumber was struggling to manage their key information resources. Our solution was to implement Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 and consolidate all key data in one secure location with redundancy and backup. The result – an easy to manage network providing secure data storage and resource sharing, secure Internet and e-mail access and Remote Web Workplace.

4. Remote Building Connectivity – Murray Bros. Lumber, Madawaska, ON

Murray Bros. Lumber yard encompasses over 200 acres with 20 separate buildings, some nearly 1 kilometer away from the main office. Providing network connectivity to these building via fibre optic cable would be cost prohibitive. Our solution was to implement a point to multipoint wireless network, providing low cost and robust connectivity. The result – outbuildings now have network connectivity, providing access to control systems from the main office.
